Q&A
General Performance and Benefits

Q: How do I know if my SoftStartUp is working?
A: Look at the LED indicators. Two green lights indicate a 50-amp service, and one green light means a 30-amp connection. You should also notice smoother appliance startups with no tripped breakers or flickering lights.

Q: Will SoftStartUp reduce my RV’s power consumption?
A: It does not lower the normal running power of appliances. Instead, it manages the inrush current at startup to prevent power spikes and interruptions.

Compatibility and Usage
Q: Can I use SoftStartUp with a 30-amp power source?
A: Yes, by using the provided 30-to-50-amp adapter, you can safely connect to a 30-amp supply.

Q: Will it work with my generator in ECO mode?
A: No. ECO mode does not provide sufficient startup power for high-demand appliances like air conditioners.

Installation and Setup
Q: Do I need special tools to install SoftStartUp?
A: No tools are required. It is a plug-and-play device that connects directly between the power source and your RV.

Q: Can I use SoftStartUp in combination with a surge protector and voltage booster?
A: Yes. Plug the surge protector into the power pedestal first, followed by the voltage booster, then connect the SoftStartUp, and finally plug in your RV.

Environmental and Maintenance Considerations
Q: Can SoftStartUp be used in extreme weather conditions?
A: Yes, but avoid direct sunlight in high heat and protect it from freezing water in cold conditions.

Q: Does SoftStartUp require maintenance?
A: It is maintenance-free but should be periodically checked for secure connections and cleaned of dust or debris.

Customer Support and Warranty
Q: What should I do if my SoftStartUp is not performing as expected?
A: Check connections, verify power sources, and consult the troubleshooting guide. If issues persist, contact customer support.

Q: What is the warranty policy for SoftStartUp?
A: The device comes with a 90-day satisfaction guarantee and a 1-year limited warranty. Contact support for claims or technical assistance.

Troubleshooting
Problem: No LED Indicators Showing After Plugging In To Power Source
  • Ensure all power connections are secure and properly plugged in.
  • Verify that the campground power supply is functioning correctly.
  • If using a generator, confirm that it is turned on and providing adequate power.
  • If the issue persists, contact tech support
Problem: Appliances Still Tripping Breakers
  • Check that the SoftStartUp is installed correctly between the power source and the RV.
  • Ensure that the total power demand of your appliances does not exceed the available power supply.
  • If using a 30-amp connection, verify that the correct adapter is used.
  • Inspect the RV’s electrical system for any existing wiring or breaker issues.
Problem: Air Conditioner Does Not Start Smoothly
  • Confirm that the SoftStartUp is connected properly and LED indicators show power availability.
  • Check if the generator is operating in ECO mode; if so, disable it.
  • Ensure that the air conditioner is within the power limitations of the generator or campground supply.
  • If an additional soft starter is installed on the A/C, confirm that it is functioning properly alongside the SoftStartUp.
Problem: SoftStartUp Works on Shore Power but Not with Generator
  • Make sure the generator is providing stable voltage output.
  • Disable generator ECO mode if active.
  • If using an EMS surge protector, verify if a generator bonding plug is required.
  • Try resetting the SoftStartUp by unplugging and reconnecting it.
Problem: Dimming Lights When Appliances Start
  • Verify that the SoftStartUp is installed in the correct sequence.
  • Check if the total power consumption exceeds the available amp capacity.
  • Ensure that no loose or damaged wiring exists within the RV’s electrical system.
Problem: Surge Protector Tripping When Using SoftStartUp
  • Connect the surge protector directly to the power pedestal before the SoftStartUp.
  • Ensure the surge protector is rated for the amperage of your RV’s power system.
  • Check for campground power fluctuations that may be causing the surge protector to activate.

Proven to Start and Run RV A/C Units with

Power Poles, Generators, Inverters & House Circuits

Starting A 15,000 BTU A/C On A 2000-Watt Inverter.

In this video, Mike demonstrates using a 2000 watt inverter, the Jackery Explorer 2000, with a SoftStartUp™ to successfully start and run a Truma Aventa 15,000 BTU air conditioner.

He explains that the SoftStartUp™ eliminates the need for rooftop installation, and can be plugged into various power sources, including 20, 30, or 50 amp power sources.

Mike also shows that the inrush current needed to start the A/C is reduced to 26.6 amps, about 50% down from the typical 50-60 amps needed to get the A/C going. He highlights the effectiveness of the SoftStartUp™ and notes how innovative the product is.
Starting 2 A/Cs On A 30-Amp Power Pedestal.

In this video, Mike from RVElectricity.com demonstrates the use of a SoftStartUp™ device that allows for the efficient operation of multiple air conditioners in an RV.

He demonstrates that the SoftStartUp™ can be connected to the shore power, a generator or other power sources, and doesn’t require installation directly into the air conditioner unit.

Mike shows the testing process, recording voltage and current data, and highlights the ability of the SoftStartUp™ to power two 15K air conditioners simultaneously. He also mentions the versatility of the device, which can be used not only for RVs but also for powering houses in emergency situations.
Starting 1 A/C On A 2200-Watt Generator.

In this video, Mike tests the SoftStartUp™ with a Honda 2200 inverter generator and a Truma 15,000 BTU Aventa air conditioner.

He shows the real-time current draw, voltage, and inrush current, highlighting how the SoftStartUp™ significantly reduces inrush current, helping the generator avoid tripping.

The SoftStartUp™ works quickly and effectively. Overall, the device proves to be a great solution for managing the power supply of RV air conditioners and other appliances.
Starting 2 A/Cs On A 3000-Watt Generator.

In this video, Mike demonstrates the new SoftStartUp™ unit helping two 15k BTU air conditioners to be powered by a 3000 watt generator. This eliminates the need to install a single soft start device in each RV rooftop A/C unit.

He measures the starting amps, running amps and voltage of the 2 air conditioners, and demonstrates how the units work when a SoftStartUp™ is in the mix.

Mike speaks to the all new SoftStartUp™ exceeding expectations and its solid performance.

IT WORKS RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX! Just plug in your SoftStartUp™, and enjoy all the benefits instantly.

pretty long end to end 2 1/2 ft.

I Have not used it yet. (bought on sale when the getting was good . month ownership ) I'm positive it will do my intended purpose. Thanks for including the 50 amp to 30 amp extension. Due to the length, I worry about moisture exposure. Generator to 110 adaptor, then 30 amp and 50 amp adaptors adds another 2 ft. feet. This will be one long power train:). I'll bet I'll have weight issues with the surge adaptor and soft startup when using a pedestal. . Maybe you though of that already?

Works at Home and On the Road

I can run both Air Conditioners in my RV, from my generators. I also use one at home, to run my household items from my battery bank. I can even run the house AC, on my 30-amp feed, as it keeps the amperage sike to about 23 Amps. It also works well to keep the power spike under control from the microwave. It is not just for RVs.
